About Minnesota Hockey HEP

Terry Evavold
ACE Director – Minnesota District

District ACE Director, Terry Evavold, was appointed to the position of USA Hockey’s District ACE Director for the Minnesota District June of 2007.  Terry is responsible for the supervision/training and administration of the Minnesota District ACE Program.  He and his team, of 12 District ACE Coordinators, provide support to the Coaching Education Program for certification; continued education through local association support; and training for the development of coaches within each association. They are also instrumental in the implementation of the Hockey Education Program known as HEP within Minnesota.  If you have questions for Terry or any of the HEP program personnel, please feel free to click here.

Aynsley Smith
Mayo Clinic

Aynsley M. Smith, RN, PhD is a sport and exercise psychology consultant, the research director in the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center and was a member of HEP development task force.  Dr. Smith is very active in hockey related research. She has published numerous articles on the epidemiology of ice hockey injuries, on psychology of injury and on the relationship between psychologic, physiologic and situational variables and the performance of athletes such as ice hockey goalies. Currently she is developing sophisticated research on concussions in ice hockey and is analyzing the results of the crossover skating flywheel research conducted in May and June.  Aynsley has worked with ice hockey teams at all levels of participation from Pee-Wees through the NHL. She is also the author of Power Play: Mental Toughness for Hockey and Beyond.

TK Stohlman
Executive Editor

TK Stohlman – Stohlman oversees all editorial and publishing for the Minnesota Hockey HEP program. Prior to being the executive editor of the Minnesota Hockey HEP program, Stohlman was President and co-founder of Sports Esteem, a media company that published print and online publications including the Sports Esteem Newsletter, a must-read newsletter focused on improving the youth sports experience for parents, coaches, and players. Under Stohlman’s leadership, the company produced the first ever on-demand software application for youth sports leagues combining industry-leading educational materials with proven web-based services.

Stohlman also founded and operated a hockey instruction company that developed camps and curricula for hockey associations and families.

Managing Editor

Kelly Kordes Anton – Kelly is responsible for providing Minnesota Hockey readers with engaging and informative content.

Kelly has two sons, a 13-year-old and an 8-year-old, who both play ice hockey. They are highly coordinated and motivated athletes who got none of their talent from their mother, who prefers to be a fan. Kelly uses her observational and conversational skills to analyze youth hockey at all levels and all ages to provide her real-world perspective.
