2010 Minnesota Hockey HEP Essay Contest Announced
Now is your chance to become part of Hockey Day in Minnesota on January 23, 2010. All registered Minnesota Hockey players are encouraged to enter the 2010 Hockey Education Program (HEP) Essay Contest by completing the following: “ I respect my opponent because….”
The goal of the Hockey Education Program (HEP) is to create a positive athletic experience for all participants of the great game of ice hockey. HEP consists of three components – Skill Development, Parent and Coach Education and Accountability through Fair Play.
“This will be the fourth year of the Essay Contest and each year we the number of submissions increases significantly” said Dave Margenau, HEP Director. “It has been very exciting to read from the perspective that our young hockey players have and I’m sure this year’s topic will produce many thought-provoking essays as well”
Well written and thoughtful essays representing each classification of participation will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Finalists will be featured on Fox Sports North during Hockey Day in Minnesota programming on January 23, 2010 and the winner and his/her team will receive a significant team prize. The names of all who submit essays will be published in Let’s Play Hockey.
Essays should not exceed 250 words and are due by December 15, 2009. To enter the contest, please submit original essays along with your name, hockey association, team/classification, address, phone number, and email address to:
