Minnesota Wild Host Zebras Care Visits

zebras_care_minnesotaOver the past two seasons the Minnesota Wild has proudly partnered with the NHL Official’s Association (NHLOA) in their quest to bring joy to children across North America and to grow the great game of hockey. The NHL Officials created the Zebras Care program in the hopes that it will provide the opportunity for underprivileged and sick children to meet many of the NHLOA members and to attend a National Hockey League game in person.

Earlier this season the Wild and NHLOA invited 5 year old pediatric cancer patient, Will and his granddad to a Zebras Care visit before the Wild game against the Rangers. Will got to meet the NHL linesmen in the belly of the arena before the game, saw the room where they prepare for the game, checked out all their hockey equipment, including the “Zebra” sweaters. He also had a chance to ask them about being on the ice during games and even got some goodies and personalized cards to take home.

The most exciting part of the visit came when they all headed out past the Zamboni hangar to the Xcel Energy Center ice. Will and his granddad got to see the arena before the gates opened and was filled with Wild fans. Will also got to try on a Zebra’s sweater and snapped some photos of his adventure on the ice. After their visit with the linesmen, Will and his granddad got to enjoy the Wild game from seats in the lower bowl compliments of the Minnesota Wild.
